The Synagogue was built at the end of the 4th Century AD. It consisted of four units: the prayer hall, the eastern courtyard, the southern porch and a side room near the northwestern corner of the prayer hall.
This is where Jesus healed Peter’s mother-in-law. Matthew 8:14-15; Mark 1:29-31. Peter’s house was a simple dwelling. In the mid 4th Century a large church was built, with Peter’s house as the centerpiece.
