The southern steps where Jesus probably taught from. The stones are arranged in a broad step, narrow step. This was to help slow the crowds of people down when entering into the temple

Temple Mount

The Temple Mount is located inside the walled city of Jerusalem. The Dome of the Rock shrine, is an octagon structure, built in 691 AD by the Muslim ruler Abdel-Malik overtop of the rock inside the shrine. The rock, according to Jewish tradition was the place where Abraham came to sacrifice Isaac. The Dome of the Rock is located in the centre of the Temple Mount.

The Temple Mount is the location of the first temple that was built by King Solomon around 950 BC 2 Chronicles 3:1 

The temple was destroyed during the Babylonian Captivity in 586 BC. 2 Kings 24:10, 13. Following the 70 years of captivity, Cyrus King of Persia makes it possible for the temple to be rebuilt.

Old City

The Old City is a .35 square mile walled city located with in modern day Jerusalem. It consists of four quarters – The Muslim, Christian, Jewish and Armenian. Today the largest population of the Old City resides in the Muslim and Christian quarters. The Muslim Quarter is the largest and extends from the Damascus to the Lions Gate.
